"BBQ For You"
“How to have the BBQ Party friends will envy”
Presented by Annabelle White.
Annabelle’s a free-lance writer, media presenter, consultant and cooking teacher. Sharing her passion for good food and wine with humour is one of her greatest joys.
Annabelle has published ten cook books - the first – Best Recipes (1997) has been reprinted for a third time and has sold over 45,000 copies in NZ and Australia. The second cook book -Barbecue Fun cook book (released October, 98 sold over 35,000).
My third book was released in April 1999. A sequel to Best Recipes. This was on the Best Sellers List for 8 weeks and was number one in New Zealand. (Simply the Best).
2009 Annabelle was awarded an Honorary Alumni Award from the University of Waikato. 2001 fronted her own show of two parts – “World on a Plate” with a quirky twist on bagels in New York and BBQ’S in the Kingdom of Tonga. At present I am the foodie on TVNZ Breakfast and have several radio spots on National Networks.
1997 also marked the beginning of regular cooking classes and demonstrations Fresh, Simple, Local and Easy - they say food should represent your own personal philosophy and complicated recipes and recipes that take too long to read are not a good approach. Cooking should be fun and renew confidence - not feel like you have suddenly become a star in an episode of Master Chef. Take your favourite fresh local ingredients and do as little as possible with them - have the confidence to serve a grilled chop or scrambled eggs and never apologize about your home cooking.
Annabelle will present useful tops for home entertaining and life generally as well as cooking. Warning: this is an interactive class and Annabelle has been affectionately named the Dr Phil of Cooking - so audiences should be ready for fun, laughter, good times, good food and simple helpful tips are part of the evening. Forget complicated canapés and weird ingredients - this is back to basics with a deliciously fun twist. This class will appeal to seasoned cooks and the non- cooks - ladies - bring your husbands as BBQ cooking tips will be included.
Annabelle is the fun loving home cook who loves to communicate about food - from travel experiences to simple ways with fresh produce - the less you do to something - i.e. a beautiful ripened tomato the better - keeping it simple and keeping it real and NOT taking it too seriously - food should be enjoyed!
This workshop will be held at the Marlborough Civic Theatre.
