"Hosta Inspiration"
Presented by Barry Sligh
Barry Sligh has developed a wide range of Kiwi Hostas highly prized in gardens through out the U.S., Australia and the U.K. His most notable - "The Duke of Cronwall" named by Prince Charles and has pride of place in his Stumpery plantings at Highgrove. Hostas have been deservedly crowned "The Worlds Best Perennial" for shaded and semi shaded gardens: magnificent in drifts under and around trees and shrubs.
The key to growing stunning Hostas to their full potential is good soil preparation along with adequate moisture, especially during dry summer months. Soil should be free draining and high in natural compost. Fertilise in spring with slow release, high nitrogen, or animal fertilisers.
Barry’s workshops on these wonderful plants will be packed with knowledge including many tips on planting and growing and the health of Hostas.
Barry can help with questions or queries on your plants, and will have a stall at our Fete on Sunday to purchase some of his many varieties of Hostas he has available.
