NEWSFLASH! As Conservation week kicks off, New Zealand native plants have gone from "bad boys" to "favourite children" as conservationist Mark Dean, from Naturally Native, is named recipient of the prestigious Loder Cup, awarded annually to acknowledge achievements in floral conservation.

Hunters Garden Marlborough 2011 is pleased to invite you all to another exciting workshop hosted by one of the country’s top authorities on native plants.

Mark Dean of ‘Naturally Native NZ Plants’ is known as the native plant guru and his participation in this year’s event is very timely. NZ natives are having a huge revival with their popularity soaring in recent years. However, many New Zealand gardeners are still unaware of the beauty and usefulness of our natural heritage. Mark is here to inform and surprise us.

Mark will be presenting these fascinating workshops at The Selmes Garden Trust Nursery on Batty’s Road. The presentations entitled ‘Native Plants for Contemporary Gardens’ speak for themselves. If you have a modern or contemporary home and garden needing that extra ‘je ne sais quoi’ then this is the workshop for you.

If you feel you need to know more, much more, about all things native: trimming, pruning, compost, fertilizing, mulching, irrigation and replacement, along with heaps of useful tips on styling, companion planting, colour and form, then this is the workshop for you.

Mark will present this popular workshop in his usual articulate style with a visual presentation and a hands on demonstration. All plants are supplied by the Selmes Trust Garden Centre who are avidly supporting this workshop. They will also have heaps of specimens in store for sale so you can return home and transform your garden into a native wonderland.

Tea or coffee will be served as we switch from the visual to the practical portion of the presentation. There will be an opportunity to chat with Mark at this time or at the conclusion to this workshop. Again our numbers are limited so the earlier the better for booking.

Marks Presentations will be held at Selmes Nursery, Battys Road Blenheim
