AL BROWN

Al Brown Celebrity ChefChef and Co-owner of Logan Brown Restaurant & Bar in Wellington, New Zealand, Alister Brown gained his Culinary Arts Degree at the New England Culinary Institute, USA. After working in restaurants in North America, Europe and New Zealand, he opened Logan Brown with business partner Steve Logan in 1996. As an NZTE Ambassador Chef, Al has also been representing New Zealand cuisine internationally since 2003.

Over the last two years, Al Brown co-presented the award winning TV series, Hunger for the Wild, meeting some great Kiwi characters, chasing down some of New Zealand’s finest food, and prepared dishes of wild game and seasonal delicacies.

The restaurant received Cuisine Magazine’s 2006 Joint Runner-up Best Restaurant in New Zealand award and was a finalist again in 2007. This followed on from receiving the magazine’s 2005 Best Wine Service award. Logan Brown has also been featured in international publications around the world, including The New York Times, Gourmet, Conde Nast Traveller and Australian Gourmet Traveller.

In his spare time, Al loves nothing better than fishing, then sharing a barbecue with friends and family - his wife Liz and daughters Alice and Connie. Al enjoys eating just about anything, but most of all simple food, cooked perfectly. He believes that more time should be spent pleasing the palate than garnishing to please the eye.

So tonight Al will demonstrate some of his favourite dishes with Prenzel products. You will get a taste and have a copy of his recipes shown tonight.

In 2007 Al co-authored his first book based on the Hunger for the Wild TV series and has written several articles for Cuisine magazine. You will have the opportunity to purchase his book and at the conclusion of the show Al is happy to sign and chat with you.

We want to acknowledge the generosity of Gordon and Tricia Herkt of HERKT RETRAVISION for so cheerfully lending us the major kitchen appliances for Al's workshop.
