"Calling All Gardeners"
Celebrate all things Botanical at
New Zealand’s Premier Gardening Event

5th - 10th November, 2008
Welcome to the fifteenth year of Hunter’s Garden Marlborough.
Show casing New Zealand’s Premier garden event and proudly sponsored by Hunter’s Wines Ltd.
This five day festival brings to you the finest gardens in the Marlborough region. Guided tours take you through private gardens along the eastern seaboard, up hidden valleys and through secluded town gardens.
World renowned and local experts on gardening are invited to speak at workshops and seminars with something for one and all.
The Cocktail Party will be warm and inviting this year as we move indoors with displays of Jenny Gillies designs incorporated into the theme of a ‘Warm Garden’ atmosphere with time to bid at the art auction for that exclusive piece of garden art.
NZ Gardener will present the trophy to the ‘Gardener of the Year’ at this evening’s event.
Shop till you drop at the Garden Fête and eat at some of our fine cafés and restaurants.
For Garden Fête stall holder applications, please download the pdf and return by 10th August. See Garden Fête for further details.
Above all come and enjoy the warmth and
generosity of the people who live in this glorious corner
of the world.
From Our Sponsor
Hello again! Welcome to Hunter’s Garden Marlborough 2008 and our 15th
Anniversary!
This is a major achievement for an event which started out as an idea amongst
a group of friends with gardens that they wanted people to be able to visit
and enjoy, through to the very professional brochure of events encompassing
gardens tours, workshops, lectures, garden fete and cocktail party on offer for
the 2008 Hunter’s Garden Marlborough.
The Hunter’s Garden Marlborough committee has put together another
marvellous programme of events encompassing all that Marlborough has
to offer. The committee will as usual be supported by a large group of
hardworking individuals who give their time to make your visit both enjoyable
and memorable.
A big thank you to the committee and the many volunteers we wouldn’t be here
15 years on without your enthusiasm and hard work.
To succeed events need participants and if you are reading this and planned a
visit to Hunter’s Garden Marlborough there is a wonderful mix of old and new
to whet your appetite.
Celebrity Chef Al Brown from Wellington’s Logan Brown restaurant will be
rustling up some tempting fare. If you have been watching his television series
you will definitely want to be at his presentation.
Barry Sligh is back by popular demand. His stonewalling workshops are a
must do. The practical gardeners haven’t been forgotten with workshops on
Espaliering Trees (John Penny), Topiary
(Jean Osborne), Landscape Design (John Patrick) and Florist (Deb Kinnaird).
There are many new gardens to visit as well as some old favourites. The
Premier Tour showcases four very well known Marlborough gardens –
Barewood, Broomfield, Upton Oaks and Timara Lodge – a rare chance to see
all of these gardens at close quarters.
A visit to Hunter’s is part of the Wairau Grand Tour and this year we will be
able to show visitors the amazing growth of our plants in our native endangered
plants garden. However if you can’t fit the Wairau Grand Tour into your
schedule but have some spare time to slip out to see us you would be very
welcome – whether to check out our native garden, see the offerings at the
cellar door or simply to take some time out and relax in the Garden café with a
glass of Hunter’s Sauvignon Blanc.
We look forward to seeing you during Hunter’s Garden Marlborough 2008
