Colour in the Garden
Robyn studied painting at the School of Fine Arts, University
of Canterbury. From the early 1960's she has developed gardens
wherever she has lived and has gained enormous knowledge
from hands-on to garden design. She has designed the Beverley
Park Heritage Rose Garden in conjunction with the Christchurch
City Council and local community and is currently a columnist
for the garden pages of The Press.
Colours in the Garden has been influenced by her extensive
botanical journey to the Sub-Antarctic Islands, Chile, Argentina
and the Andes and gardens worldwide.
Robyn's workshop will take place in two parts, the first
being a presentation lecture and discussion with the second
being a hands on workshop.
Learn the theory of colour pertaining to the Colour Wheel,
primary, secondary and tertiary colours and their complementaries.
Use your intuitive nature on the use of colours always remembering
to break the rules! Robyn will talk about the colour theory
as well as colour intuition to the garden, through the use
of plants, house colour, garden structures and furniture
and ornaments.
Then for the hand-on workshop, experimenting with the colour
and texture of the plant material, and any objects or images
which you may contribute to the workshop.
Remember to bring your own plant material where at all possible.
e.g. foliage, grasses, flowers, buds, seedheads, etc. also
any objects you might like to use in your garden or favourite
image pertaining to colour in the gardens. This will be used
to practice
