Urban Garden Tour

This year we have accomplished finding another extraordinary selection of amazing beautiful town gardens right in the heart of Blenheim. These gardens have been developed by these talented owners who are generously sharing them with you. A morning or afternoon tea is included on these half day tours.

Jacqui's Garden ~ Jacqui Kensington

In a leafy street just a few minutes from the town centre is a large garden of mature trees, perennial filled flowerbeds and dozens of roses tumbling over pergola, trellis and garden shed. Interesting use has been made of colour in the garden furniture and plants in both pots and hanging baskets on the deck and paved areas. Through the rose covered trellis archway are raised vegetable beds, fruit trees and berry bushes.

Brookhurst ~ Brian and Helen Sullivan

Seclusion and tranquillity envelope you at Brookhurst as you meander up the tree-lined driveway. Situated near the Taylor River, on half an acre, the garden is surrounded by large established trees. The entrance is formal, followed by rambling rose beds, an attractive pond and hedges of buxus, lonicera and teucrium. There is also a shade tree area, under-planted with camellias and hydrangeas and a sheltered kitchen garden with various citrus thriving pots.

The Garden of ~ Keith and Chris Thoms

The gardens are designed to compliment the 80 year old English style home of Chris and Keith Thoms. Old red bricks have been laid in extensive paths and courtyards, raised gardens and ponds. A 100 year English Yew tree and cottage style plantings have created a quiet and peaceful place to wander or sit in the many garden rooms.

The Garden of ~ Mark and Viv Peters

Garden established in 1935 after building of the house. It is ½ acre in the middle of town. Features English Cottage Garden lots of roses large established trees and a large vegetable garden. Mark and Viv purchased the property 26 years ago and began restoring the garden around the lovely big trees. Have a look at the photograph album starting 1935.

The Garden of ~ Geoff and Robin Robinson

Eighteen months ago Geoff and Robin Robinson had their existing 26 year old garden completely demolished apart from five mature trees. Their desire was to create a tranquil extension of their house. Tasha Midgely was commissioned. Their new garden includes immature hornbeam plants which will ultimately create several hedges with some being pleached. The garden boasts a simple fountain and a contemporary life size sculpture.
